We are now fresh out of The 2020 Presidential Election. This election was definitely a very unique one. In The Year of COVID-19, and The Stock Market crash, along with mass unemployment in America, We had a Presidential Election. What great timing. We see The Infamous Incumbent Republican President, Donald J. Trump run for re-election. The Democrat Primaries were incredibly tense, with Many candidates facing off. Vice President from 2009–2017, And Senator From Delaware, Joe Biden. Senator from Vermont, and 2016 Democrat Candidate, Bernie Sanders. Law professor and Senator From a Massachusetts, Elizabeth Warren. US Navy Officer, Mayor of South Bend, Indiana, and First Openly Homosexual Presidential Candidate, Pete Buttigeig. Businessman, Co-Founder of Bloomberg and Mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg. Eventually, Candidates started to drop out, Leaving Joe Biden, as The Front-Runner of The Primaries. He won The Nomination. Donald Trump, Being The Incumbent President, crushed The Other Republican Candidates and won The Nomination. Election Night began on November 3, and On November 7, Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was elected president of The United States with a victory of 306–232. Now, This election broke many records in terms of popular vote and flipping states. Lets start with The Popular Vote. Both Joe Biden, and Donald Trump beat the previous record of Most votes for a Presidential Candidate, held by Obamas 2008 Victory with 69.5 million votes. Biden and Trump easily cracked 70 million votes, and Biden cracked 80 million. Currently, The Count for Trump stands at 74.3 million, and The Count for Biden stands at 81.4 million. This was a huge increase from The Previous record of 69 million. As for Voter Turnout, This was the highest since 1900. We saw 67% Turnout this year, a very high number. This was also a huge election for Flipping States. In The Previous 2016 Election, Donald Trump won Key Swing States which ultimately got him to his victory. Trump won Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona, Georgia, Ohio and Florida. Thats 7 key states. Well, Biden flipped 5/7 of them back To Blue. In Terms of Electoral Vote, Not much was different from 2016. Trump won in 2016 with 304–227. Biden won this year with 306–232. So, Trump, despite losing The Election, Still was able to outperform His 2016 Contender, Hillary Clintons results. Trump was also The First Incumbent President to lose re-election since 1992, When Bill Clinton defeated President At The Time, George H.W. Bush in a landslide victory of 370–168. So Trump was a pretty clear loser in This Election, But Some good news for Him, is that he now has The Most Total votes for Any Presidential Candidate in American History. The previous record was held by Obama with 135 million total votes. If we combine Trumps 2016 62.984m votes with This years 74.305m votes, Trump gets 137 million total votes, The Most for any candidate. These were all The Records of The 2020 Election, Maybe we might see an even crazier 2024 Election, who knows?
