British Elections Explained

You’ve definitely heard about British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, But, Do you know how he got elected in The First Place? Well to many British Elections seem very confusing, and complicated. But, its actually a very similar system to Americas Electoral College. In America there are 538 electors made up of representatives and senators. In The UK, There are 650 total parliamentary seats made up of 650 Counties. 1 county = 1 seat. To win the election you must have 326 of 650 seats, which is a majority. What parties are there? Well, The 2 main parties are Labour and Conservative. There are also 3 big Third Parties, The Liberal Democrats, Democratic Unionists, and Scottish National Party. To give you an example, lets analyze The 2019 election. Boris Johnsons Conservative Party won with 365 seats. Jeremy Corbyns Labour came second with 203 seats. The Scottish National Party had 48, The Liberal Democrats had 11, and The Democrat Unionists had 8, and 15 seats went to other third parties. Now that you have an understanding of British Elections, you can note the similarities between Britains Electoral Process and Americas Electoral Process.
